Some ideas.

Here are some ideas (assuming we are going with the idea of the time traveller who gains his powers as he grows [teleportation -> time slow -> time stop -> time travel] let me know how you guys feel about it:

Some Character ideas:

I'm thinking it would be a really great idea if we establish a continuing theme of his powers become representative of his personaltiy

In the begining with the teleportation he will be bouncing around, trying to accomplish his goals, and save people,

Becoming stronger with the ability to slow down time,

and when he gets the ability to stop time, this will reflect a change in character. I'm seeing him brutalizing a friend after the friend reveals a betrayal to him. A scene where he stops time, and you just see flashes of punches, an innumberable amount, before he resumes time and the friend is absolutely pulverized. That, when he does get the power to do so much more, he becomes jaded, confused and bitter at the world, because of blah blah reasons. Then by the time he gains the power to travel through time he's just completely disillusioned, bitter, and doesn't think he can change it anymore. Maybe he doesn't want to change it. Maybe he's realized the true nature of humanity, or because he can time travel, he is able to see the nature of humanity so much better. I'm seeing kind of a Flash kind of character, slowly growing more experienced and mature in his adventures.

Another idea i want to play with is a trinity idea. Our Main character, a friend, and a mutual love interest/sister character. Pretty typical storyline, but proven to work. Two guys start off as great friends, best of buds, but conflict in ideals of how they want things done (pragmatist/idealist, negotiating/violent) slowly create a schism between two best friends. Also, despite having a good intention, I want the friend to become jaded much earlier on, and begin to look out for himself, become selfish, and prone to backstabbing his allies for his own benefit. This kind of backstabbing I can see being pivotal to the main Character's changes in personality. The mutual love interest is pretty self explanatory, but something I want to explore is in this really archetypical story line is a much more sexually explicit kind of relationship. Whereas most stories will brush around the details, I think we would benefit from really being frank about it.

Yet another idea I was playing with this morning is the idea that as he uses his powers for good and save people, it would be incredibly detrimental to his body. Mainly to nail the idea that in order to do any good that you have to make sacrifice. This came to me when I was picturing a scene, where he really has to push his body to his limits, (eg: to say... maybe save an entire village/apartment/w.e from a huge fire by stopping time and grabbing all of them) and after you see the people safe, you pan to a picture of the Hero leaning against something, clothes ripped, body bleeding, and just in utter pain.

Anyways, those are all just ideas I thought of in the shower today. They would work really in any sort of environment, world, or campaign we decide to put them through, and they were just themes that I think make up pretty good stories. Feel free to tear into them, and if there is anything in there you like, lets talk about it more specifically then.
